ZiXP 2025 – A festival for the local experimental music scene
On November 21 and 22, 2025, LeipziXP e.V. will transform ZiMMT Leipzig into a laboratory for sound research and artistic encounter.
More than 20 musicians from Leipzig will explore, in spontaneous formations and open works, the boundaries between sound and noise, music and sonic art – from “Echtzeitmusik” to Wandelweiser, new music, and EAI. Intimate, focused, and full of curiosity.
The festival program consists of Mix & Match formats, collaborative works, and performances by Ensemble Modèle Réduit, the association’s in-house ensemble.
The Mix & Match sessions enable encounters in small constellations – duos, trios, or quartets – inviting musicians to get to know each other musically and experiment freely, mostly without prior agreement, improvising in the moment.
The collaborative works emerge from proposals, concepts, or ideas by the participants, who form groups according to their interests and develop the pieces together.
Ensemble Modèle Réduit will play a new program especially for the festival and perform at both the opening and the closing concerts.
